"David Lloyd allowed to go home in the afternoon, he having fallen into the river during the dinner hour."

"First lesson in the afternoon not taken, through the neglect of the teachers in not getting the children in from the playground in proper time."
From the School Managers' Minute Book, May 1910 [ref: HPR/6/50]
"It was resolved that all children living above an imaginary line drawn from Ashdale across to Ferry Point in the parish of Burton be excluded from the school, on account of want of accommodation consequent upon the new rule of the Board of Education, which requires that 10 square feet be allowed for each child."
From a letter written by Rev. T. Williams of Llangwm, December 1868 [ref: HPR/6/52]
"The Court of Chancery has also consented to sell a fitting site [for a school in Llangwm] for ten pounds as a nominal consideration. A gentleman interested in the project has consented to pay this sum.. . . The site is that of a cottage now out of repair and garden surrounding it just outside the village and will furnish sufficient space for a school house, yard, master's house and garden, all in contiguity."
